Needed to get checked out because my eye was feeling very strained and has been bothering me and they all had great customer service and had me laughing too. Highly recommend this place! Especially for a first timer they were great! They kept in consideration the cost with insurance to make sure you knew exactly what to expect and never pressured you to pick anything but made you feel comfortable making a right decision and be happy with the look once you leave. Angelica helped fit glasses for me and knew first choice what looked best but still had me try others to make sure it was the right choice. She was very sweet and funny, she even had my daughter help us pick the pair because she knew she’d be honest on which one really looked good. They were awesome quick and caring!

I was having trouble with my frames and seeing clearly with the glasses that were given to me previously. Dr. Clanton took the time to exam my eyes and make sure to get my prescription right. Also, the gal (sorry, I can't remember her name but she was the manager) that looked at my current glasses and checked the current prescription was excellent! She explained everything in detail and made sure the replacement was more than satisfactory. This office has new staff and I couldn't have asked for a better team. I am so happy with them that I will continue going to them. I highly recommend them.

I had a fantastic experience from start to finish. The staff was incredibly friendly, empathetic, and made me feel comfortable and safe throughout the entire appointment. The process was quick and efficient, and I truly appreciated the welcoming atmosphere. The pricing felt very reasonable given the quality of the frames and lenses. While other providers may offer lower prices, the craftsmanship and service here more than justify the cost. I was able to purchase both a pair of computer glasses and a regular everyday pair with the transition lens upgrade—all at a fair price. The service was exceptional, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this place to anyone looking for high-quality eyewear, excellent customer care, and a smooth, hassle-free experience.

Why This Happens

Computer vision syndrome, also known as digital eye strain, is caused by prolonged use of computers, phones, and other digital screens. Screens demand near-constant focusing effort and reduce how often you blink, which leaves eyes fatigued, dry, and uncomfortable. It’s often temporary, but ongoing strain can affect your vision and comfort long-term if left unaddressed.

Who Needs This Evaluation

Anyone who spends significant time on screens, whether for work, school, or personal use, can benefit from a computer vision evaluation. This includes office workers, students, and anyone who notices eye discomfort creeping in during or after screen time. If you’ve never had your eyes evaluated specifically with your digital habits in mind, it’s worth discussing at your next visit.

How We Can Help

We’ll talk through your daily screen habits, work setup, and the symptoms you’re noticing. Your evaluation includes a comprehensive vision check along with an assessment of your focusing ability and eye teaming, since digital strain often involves more than just your basic prescription. Based on what we find, we may recommend computer-specific lenses, updates to your screen setup or habits, or treatment for any underlying dry eye contributing to your discomfort.

Why Northern Avenue Eye Care

We understand that modern life runs on screens, and we tailor our recommendations to how you actually use your eyes every day. Dr. Robert Clanton and our team take a practical approach, looking at your whole visual routine, not just your prescription, to help you feel more comfortable day to day. We’re currently accepting new patients.

Insurance

We accept most major vision and medical insurance plans. If you don’t see your plan listed or aren’t sure what’s covered, call us at (602) 995-8848 and we’ll check your benefits for you before your visit.

FAQS here

Is digital eye strain permanent?

Most digital eye strain is temporary and improves with proper treatment and adjusted habits, though ongoing strain over time can affect long-term visual comfort if untreated.

Do I need special glasses for computer use?

Many patients benefit from computer-specific lenses that reduce strain during screen use. We’ll evaluate whether that’s a good fit for you.

What is the 20-20-20 rule?

Every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for at least 20 seconds. It’s a simple habit that helps reduce digital eye strain.

Can digital eye strain cause permanent vision damage?

It’s typically not permanently damaging on its own, but chronic strain can significantly affect your day-to-day comfort and productivity if it isn’t addressed.

My eyes feel fine at my regular exam, but tired by screens. Should I still be seen?

Yes. Digital eye strain can exist even with a normal prescription, since it often involves focusing and eye teaming rather than just visual sharpness.

Do you accept my insurance?

We accept most major vision and medical insurance plans. Call us at (602) 995-8848 and we’ll confirm your coverage before your visit.
